Greetings Village,
This month’s newsletter contains resources in Minnesota for those of you who are caregivers to loved ones, for those who are aging… (aren’t we all?)
and are planning to live longer in your homes. Please feel free to reach out with any questions after perusing these links.
And a BIG thank you to my mom, Lynda, who has started a 3-ring binder entitled “Caregiving Plan” that includes all of these resources, plus more that I’ll continue to include in future newsletters.
Senior LinkAge Line: https://mn.gov/senior-linkage-line/
The Senior LinkAge Line is a service of the Minnesota Board on Aging in partnership with Minnesota's area agencies on aging. They offer services regarding Aging in Place, Caregiving, and Medicare.
Minnesota Help: https://www.minnesotahelp.info/SpecialTopics/Seniors
Search here for services that help older Minnesotans and people with disabilities. Find services for Adult Day Services, Memory Care, Caregiving, Death and Dying, Financial Help, Food Assistance & Other Nutrition, and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren.
Minnesota Live Well at Home: https://mn.gov/dhs/live-well/
This resource helps older Minnesotans thrive by providing the programs and resources that keep us all living in our own homes longer.
Senior Community: https://seniorcommunity.org/
Specifically check out the Household and Outdoor Maintenance section for the . . .
HOME Program services that support independence and allow older adults to remain in the homes and communities they love. Services are available to anyone aged 60 and older. Rates for paid services are based on a participant’s income and ability to pay; no one is denied service based on ability to pay.
Through this link you can also schedule a Free Home Safety Check: We’ll tour your home and recommend repairs, assistive devices and/or other tips to help you avoid falls, reduce fire hazards and maintain your independence.
As caregivers and actively aging persons, it is important to realize the many services that are out there for us, to enhance not only the quality of our own life as we age, but those who are our loved ones, and caregivers.
I hope these resources will be beneficial to you and your loved ones. Again, please reach out with any questions. And lastly, thank you to my mom who is aging with grace and planning for our future.
Warmly,
Lesley
